56cm Barramundi #964 51cm Rockcod #331-333 Squidgy Pro Mongrel Lucky Craft Beefreeze Dry season's land based fishing

There was a little chill in the air while I was driving.
I dedicated to safe driving and got to the Channel Island within an hour by my new 150cc scooter.

The sea water was clear.
That gave me a sense of safety while I was wading through the shallow water because I would trip on the rocks under the water if the water was murky.
The water was cold.
The tide was going out.
I stopped at the big rocks in the middle of wading and then cast my lure.
Soon, I caught an average sized rockcod.
I waited till the outgoing tide permitted me to wade through the shallow water to the mud flat.
The productive fishing window wasn't long at the mud flat.
First I caught a 56cm barramundi on Squidgy Pro Mongrel.

To compare with the wet season's barramundi, the dry season's barramundi are powerful and more beautiful.
It's a prime seafood.

Second, I caught a 51cm rockcod on Lucky Craft Beefreeze.
That is unusual that I catch a nice sized rockcod of equal to or above 40cm by land based in Darwin.

Towards sunset I began to go home.
The dry season in which the temperature is low permits me to carry these fish to Darwin by my scooter.

I will make some prime fish and chips with these dry season's fish.

Mr. Callum Gumball made these fish holders for me.
I can concentrate on the driving.

57cm Saturday Barramundi #958-959 Maria MJ-1 110F Mud flat at the Channel Island

I went to the mud flat at the Channel Island to fish.
It's a still long drive by my new 150cc scooter to get there.
It's very important to fish at the good timing on the mud flat.

The tide was moving fast.
The water was going out quickly.
The productive fish window was within 30minutes today.
It's hard to walk on the mud.
I picked my way along a walking hard ground with a stick.
The water was shallower than I had expected.
I chose a Maria MS 110F lure having a stream resistance body to suppress air resistance when cast.
This lure had a long flying distance, and capable of achieving its proper underwater posture and action on making a splashdown and after.
Soon, I caught a 57cm salt water barramundi.

55cn Barramundi #955 Rapala flatrap Always waiting for this tide.

Yesterday's tides were ideal for my land based fishing.
Today's tides were still very good.

04:20am - 6.31m
10:17am - 2.94m
15:59pm - 6.01m
22:52pm - 1.31m

I went to Myilly point rocks to fish at 12: 10pm.
The water was murky.
The sea surface was slightly wavy.
I had a strong feeling that a barramundi would take my lure soon.
My expectation came true.
I caught a 55cm urban saltwater barramundi at 12:20pm.
Rapala Flatrap is a very effective lure for a very difficult shallow water.
The plastic bib was easy to detach before but it was likely improved with more glue.
Twitching it with furious movement was very effective under the condition like this.

54cm Barramundi #953 Maria MJ-1 S110FThe tides were very good!

It was a day of unseasonable cloud and humidity, so the rain turned into a downpour after sunset.

There was something that is unusual.
There were many soldier crabs on the beach at Mindil Beach.

On the other hand, the tides were very good for my land based fishing.
I saw someone caught a nice sized fish and had two good strikings in the morning.

I went home once and back to Myilly Point rocks around 6:30pm.
The tide was going.
The water was clear.
The sea surface was rippled.
The conditions were ideal for my land based fishing.
Firstly, I used Squidgy Pro Mongrel.
Soon I saw barramundi chasing it.
But barramundi was shortsighted and looked twice at a Mongrel.
The lure changing occurred immediately.
I knew that twitching was very effective in the case like this.
As a result, I caught a 54cm urban barramundi on Maria MJ-1 S110F

Barramundi #947-948 hrtlures Mad Minnow Match the hatch

The tides on May 12 as follows,

05:36am 2.55m
12:02pm 5.96m
18:50pm 3.25m

The tides were very good for my land based fishing.
Fortunately, there was no moon while I was fishing.
The water was very, very clear.
The sea surface was slightly wavy.
The productive fishing window came around 8:30pm.
It lasted one hour.

It was about this time last year.
I used the same lure at the same place at the same tide.
I think that a barramundi is mainly taking a small mullet or a small whiting in my fishing locations in this season.

Match the hatch
There are exceptions to it, however.
I'm not sure how fish see the colour under the water.
I accept this theory.
